Boosters of Camp Cadet is a non-profit which serves community members from Crawford, Erie, Warren, and Venango counties. The boosters support and organize Troop E Camp Cadet, Troop E Sunny Day Camp, and Shop with a Hero. All three of these programs are funded through fundraising efforts and generous community donations.
Troop E Camp Cadet is a program run by members of the Pennsylvania State Police. The camp is open to youth aged 12-15. Due to fundraising efforts and generous donations, camp is free of charge to those who attend. Parents praise the camp for its effects on the attitude, behavior, and outlook of their children. Camp Cadet is run during the second week of June and is held at Allegheny College in Meadville, Crawford County. Pennsylvania State Troopers serve as counselors and spend the entire week at the camp with the youth.
Sunny Day Camp is an inclusive camp, which is open to any Special Needs child or adult in the Troop E area. Morning activities include light refreshments and static displays of first-responder vehicles, followed by lunch. Afternoon activities include a variety of games and activities for participants to freely choose. During the closing ceremony, Troopers present certificates to the attendees. The day will conclude with music and a t-shirt signing during which Troopers, volunteers, and fellow participants can sign shirts and take pictures to commemorate the day. This event is free to all participants and their family members.
Shop with a Hero is a program where local children have the opportunity to shop for Christmas gifts and eat lunch with a local hero. The heroes consist of military personnel, EMS, fire fighters, law enforcement, and nurses. This program gives young people the opportunity to interact with local heroes in a positive atmosphere which has a huge impact on their lives.
