Specific Need

Youth Connection believes that every child has the ability to reach their full potential with the help of a strong, positive role model (mentor) who will provide encouragement, consistency, guidance and hope for their future. Our volunteers (mentors) come form many vocational backgrounds and generously donate their time to not only mentoring their youth, but assist in fundraising, recruitment and other designated tasks. Youth Connection mentors consist of both employed and retired individuals who come form many fields including mental health, public education, county government and the medicine/health industry. Our mission is to support the at-risk youth in our community and at this time we are asking for your support.

Your support of Youth Connection will help us provide program activities and social opportunitites for our participants, aid in the recruitment and screening of potential mentors, provide ongoing match support and resources for our matched youth and their mentors and to provide resources for our unmatched youth and their families. Our goal in the coming year is to expand our program to serve more youth who do not have any positive influence in their life and it is our hope to have the funding to begin Group Mentoring programs in the area.

In addition to financil support we ask you to consider donating your time and becoming a mentor! The program is seeking mentors throughout the community to provide a positive opportunity for local youth who would greatly benefit from the addition of a role model in their lives.There are many disadvantaged youth within our community on the waiting list whose lives would be transformed if they had the opportunity to be matched with a caring mentor.

No action is too small to make a connection and change our community, one youth at a time.

Mission

Youth Connection is dedicated to instilling hope and empowering youth to reach their fullest potential. Statistically, 95% of our former youth surveyed agree their mentor helped them be more successful in school and provided the necessary support and guidance to ensure their graduation and future success. Former mentees also feel their mentor instilled values and principles that have guided them successfully through life.

Profile

Youth Connection makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Mentors”) and youth (“Mentees”). Youth Connection operates under the belief that inherent in every youth is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people assisting them to reach their highest potential as they grow into more confident and caring individuals in the community. The National Quality Mentoring System Badge was awarded to Youth Connection by the Mentoring Partnership of Southwest PA which recognizes Youth Connection as a high quality mentoring program that is adhering to standards and procedures to ensure a safe and effective mentoring program within our community.
