ERNST TRAIL-French Creek Recreational Trails, Inc.

Goal: $20,000.00

Specific Need

HELP US IMPROVE ERNST TRAIL !

Our goal is to raise $20,000 to use to continue to improve the trail .   The trail is open and usable from Shippen Street in Meadville (Kerrtown) to the Conneaut Lake Winery.  This is a 12 mile continuous off-road trail.  The first 6 miles are (or will be soon) paved.  The remaining trail surface is gravel.  We are continuing to work to improve the gravel surface as funding allows.  Funds received during Crawford Gives will be used towards these improvements.

Mission

French Creek Recreational Trails' mission is to promote the conversion of abandoned railroad and other rights-of-way into recreational trails located in Crawford County and/or Northwest Pennsylvania. Also to promote the preservation and protection of the natural resources found along these rights-of-way and the preservation of the history adjoining these rights-of-way.

Profile

Ernst Trail is a 12 mile trail from Meadville going westward to Conneaut Lake.  The first 5 miles are paved with a gravel surface on the remainder.  It follows historic French Creek for the first 3 miles through forests and fields.  It is used for biking, walking, running and other non-motorized activities.  It is open dawn to dusk 365 days a year.
