Goal: $16,000.00
Specific Need
Our building is 154 years old and your donation this year will go towards helping us replace the outside doors. The Market House has four entrences with two doors each. As a historical building, we want to replace the doors with real wood replicas of the original 1870s doors that will last decades. To do this, we need your help! Each door, with ADA regulations, costs $8,000. Our goal is to begin with replacing the front two doors, which we consider the main entrance. These doors are the most utilized and in the worst shape. In the humidity, the doors do not close all the way. The concrete is worn and one of the doors can be pulled loose when it is locked. We'd like to raise $16,000 to cover the cost. Help us preserve the Market House and its history for future generations!
Mission
The Meadville Market House supports and promotes local, sustainable agriculture, connecting the public with local farmers and other producers in an economically viable Marketplace.
Profile
The Meadville Market House is preparing for its 155th year! Fondly dubbed the “Heart of Meadville,” the Market House is a destination for local produce, eggs, meat, home-baked goods, and specialty gourmet items. The Market House was constructed in 1870 and is the oldest continuously run market structure in the state of Pennsylvania! We strive to serve the public year-round with local produce, bread, and products while supporting and promoting local, sustainable agriculture alongside craft vendors. We've hosted over 32 different vendors at our outdoor market this year and work with 60+ vendors indoors. Over the last year we've installed a new cafe counter to promote community engagement around food and brought in new vendors like Willow Bend English Muffins, Channellock, and Post Apples Farm. So far in 2024, we've put $57,211 back into the community through our vendor consignment program and approximately $60,000 through wholesaling. We look forward to serving the community in the next century!
