Goal: $5,000.00
Specific Need
The Shade Tree Commission is an instrumentality of the City of Meadville which is responsible for the street trees in Meadville. The budget provided by the City has been depleted by the requirement to remove old growth and dangerous trees. In addition the Shade Tree Commission oversees the Memorial Tree Fund which has been used in the trimming and planting of new trees.
The modest coffers that fund the planting of street trees in Meadville have again been depleted with this year’s planting. As always, our “regular” budget had been entirely dedicated to the trimming and removal of city trees that are dying or pose a hazard to the public. We have been able to supplement our planting efforts by securing, in successive years, “Tree Vitalize” grants from the state of Pennsylvania, but keeping our beautiful tree canopy robust and healthy still depends on our locally grown Memorial Tree Fund. In addition to replenishing and replacing trees, acquiring more Tree Gators, and tree pruning of existing street trees are the specific targets of Crawford Gives donations. We hope we can count on your civic and arboreal generosity again.
